Cooking, writing. Cooking, writing. Lately?
Cooking. Oh my goodness, the cooking.
You won't believe how my weekend went. Instead of relaxing and sleeping in, like I probably should have, I spent it in the kitchen. I roasted a chicken for tonight's chicken pot pie, then turned the carcass into chicken broth. I learned how to make home made caramel sauce and vowed to never buy the stuff filled with artificial crap again. Then I made brownies, dumped the sauce all over it, sprinkled them with pecans, and if that wasn't enough to make you say, "Enough already!", I drizzled chocolate ganache on top of that. I baked two different kinds of cookies, and then tried my hand at making whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread.
So we have enough food to feed an army by now-so much that I'm taking some of those brownies to work because while I love them, they are dangerous substances to have in the house. My co-workers will be so happy; no longer will I be the girl who writes about all this fantastic food they never see, but they will finally be able to taste the fruits of my labor.
I'm just happy the huge pan of brownies (or these cookies) won't be clinging to my thighs. It's a win-win situation! They're just going to wish I brought the whole pan. I might have to bake another one.
Exciting things are happening in the Cookie Jar. I have some reviews and a giveaway coming up which I'm sure you'll all be excited about, Mrs Q from Fed Up with Lunch and I are planning another Twitter party, and like I said, there's going to be prizes happening with Food Revolution Fridays! Make sure to play along for a chance to win. I'm making plans for a trip to Blog Her and dreaming all about sun, palm trees, and roaring down an open highway.
Besides, it's just all good fun in such a dreary time of year, isn't it? Are you going to BlogHer? Dreaming about sun and palm trees? Or are you making something yummy in your kitchen?
