I have a friend going through something particularly hard in her life right now. Over Christmas, I found the perfect book for her; The Book of Awesome. Written by Neil Pasricha of 1000awesomethings.com (amazing blog, go look!), it celebrates all the little things that make life wonderful.
I know that on some days, my friend has to work hard to find the wonderful. Some days, maybe she doesn't find it. The small gift of the book was to help remind her on those days.
"You could write some," she sipped her tea from across the table, and suddenly I knew what project I wanted to do this year. I've tried projects like 365, Grace in Small Things, or Nanowrimo and failed miserably, but this time it's different.
This year, I'm turning 40. I want to do something special here, on this blog that will turn five in April. I want to do something special for HER. For YOU, dear readers, that might be having a hard time some days.
This year, every Saturday, I'm going to find, and then celebrate, the awesome. From the very first Saturday of 2011 to the very last, it's going to be a year of amazing things to look back on and celebrate. Small things, big things, things that make life amazing. I'd love it if you'd join me!
Let's find awesome together, shall we?
