All About ME!

Loukia, over at her blog Lou Lou's views, posted this meme a long time ago and asked if anyone wanted to play along. I know it's been awhile but hey, I'm game! What a great way to get to know each other!

Who is the hottest movie star?

Huh? Hollywood? Movies don't get a lot of attention in our house, since I barely watch TV and believe it or not, neither Hubs nor Jake even like going to the theater. The following actors are my favorite, and I'd happily go to a movie starring any of them...I also listed our family's favorite movies to watch these actors in.

Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich, Runaway Bride)

Reece Witherspoon (Legally Blonde)

Will Smith (Independence Day)

Brendon Fraser (The Mummy/Mummy Returns)

Apart from your house and your car, what's the most expensive item you've ever bought?

I thought about this one for a really long time. Pondered. For DAYS. The funny thing is, I don't spend money on myself. Call me cheap, but I always end up spending it on either Jake or Hubs. Anything expensive that I have, was a gift. I am finding that the older I get, the more I've gotten into actually buying things for ME. Right now I have my eye on an iPod touch, so that will probably qualify.

The bottom line is really that while I like having things, too much clutter bugs me. I'd rather have a few nice, well used things then just a pile of junk.

What's your most treasured memory?

I have two. The first one is when love was new with Hubs-we were on his motorcycle, roaring through the canyon up near Whistler, BC. It was a gorgeous day and Hubs reached around, gently touched my knee, and began singing "You Are So Beautiful" to me. He is NOT a singer. He's never done it again. But that moment, was just one where you are so in love and happy you just don't care what you sound like.

The second one was Christmas Eve, 1995. I was 25 years old. Jake had just been born a few days before, and it was 2 am in the morning. I was still in the hospital and I distinctly remember standing at the window, watching the twinkle lights and the snow fall, holding my newborn and barely able to believe that I was someone's mom. "Silent Night" was playing in the background. It was surreal.

What was the best gift you ever received as a child?

A wooden toboggan from my brother when I was about 9 or 10. That Christmas the entire family went tobogganing in the nearby golf course one evening and I thought it was the best thing EVER. I wish I still had it.

What's the biggest mistake you've made?

It's hard to pick just one, because I've made lots! When I was younger, I was very much a people pleaser and would do anything to make other people happy, often at my own expense. That was a HUGE mistake, but I learned to stand up for myself.

I'm not like that now.

4 words to describe yourself:

What was your highlight or lowlight of 2008?

Highlight: Caving in Carlsbad Caverns. Our annual road trips are always a highlight for me. I love spending time with Jake and Hubs, and I had always wanted to see Carlsbad. It was so cool being way down in the cave, seeing the stalactites and stalagmites and really knowing what Hubs has always talked about (he's caved a lot before). Seeing the bat flight was REALLY cool.

Lowlight: I was sick a lot in 2008-at some point I couldn't even get off the couch and I began to wonder if I had some chronic, debilitating disease. It was really, really scary, but I've gotten better, it hasn't come back since last fall, and life is good once again!

Favorite film?

Despite the fact I hardly watch TV, I do love the Lord of the Rings series, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Plus all those movies listed above under the actor question.

Tell me one thing I don't know about you.

You may not know that I am actually kinda shy in real life, unless you get to know me. Oh sure, I look all outgoing and everything, and I've learned how to do that because of my job. In real life though, I don't usually let people in that close until I really get to know them. In a crowd, I'm more likely to just stand and smile quietly, taking it in and not wanting to be in the spotlight.

On my blog I'm much more outgoing.

If you were a comic book/strip or cartoon character, who would you be?

The Mom in Calvin and Hobbs, because Jake just IS Calvin.
