Canada Day is coming! And just to help you celebrate, I've found some Fabulicious stuff for you!
Vancouver's first Canada Day parade will be happening July 1, 2009 at 7 pm, starting at Canada Place! According to this website there will be "parade floats, musical acts, dance troups, community members, multicultural groups and more!"
Make sure to check out the street festival from 10 am to 7 pm, also starting at Canada place and going west along the harbor front. It's free!
Vancouver's Canada Day fireworks are slated for 10:30 pm in Burrard Inlet. Check out this site to find out what the prime viewing locations are. Whatever you do, leave a lot of time to get out of the downtown area because it will be busy!
Surrey's Canada Day Celebration is known as the biggest in western Canada. Join Biff Naked and 54-40 to celebrate our country's birthday! The best part is, it's free! And fireworks there too!
Granville Island is hopping on Canada Day with their own parade, ceremony, jazz performances, and more! Not just that but what would a celebration be without food?
- a pancake breakfast for $8 benefitting Canuck Place, which includes pancakes, bacon, and real maple syrup! (7:30 am-11:00 am at the Dockside restaurant)
-a pie fiesta at A La Mode over in the Market from 9 am-7 pm
-visit Roger's chocolate for a FREE dip in the chocolate fountain! (10 am-7 pm @ Roger's Chocolates, Johnson Street)
-Bridges Restaurant is having a lobster BBQ from 11 am-midnight
There is so much happening at Granville Island that it's hard to list everything. Suffice it to say that you'd have a fantastic time with the kids, and much of the entertainment is free! Check it out!
5. Maple Cookies!
What's Canada Day without a tasty treat? I'll be posting a recipe for Maple Sandwich Cookies June 28 for an early "Recipe Tuesdays" so keep you eye out for it. They are a bit of work, but sooo delicious!
