About a month and a half ago, I found an e-mail from Doug over at Jerky.com in my inbox, asking if I'd like to try some pineapple jerky and write a review about it.
Thinking it was beef and pineapple, I immediately answered, "Sure! Send away!"
When it arrived the other day, I realized my mistake. Oops.
Pineapple. Dried. Into a jerky-like state. Fruit jerky? Isn't that like, um, dried fruit?
I have to admit, my first reaction was..."Hmmm...interesting." But then I ate some.
Did I ever mention I hate dried pineapple? I wasn't sure. I was ready to be grossed out. But you know, this stuff is goooood. It has a texture of jerky, meaning it's ultra chewy. What I like though is that it has none of that tooth aching sweetness that regular dried pineapple does, but a definitely more natural, even slightly tart taste that makes it downright delicious. The more I ate, the more I loved it!Plus this stuff isn't sticky like most dried fruit is-in fact, it's completely dry. Did I also mention it's yummy?
Jake downed his in about 2 seconds, licked his fingers, and then asked where we could buy more.
I'd say that alone is a pretty good recommendation.
