Fabulicious Friday #36

1. It's the Year of the Ox: Happy Chinese New Year!

Looking for events to attend? On Feb 1st check out the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden, as they celebrate the Year of the Ox with music, crafts, entertainment, and more! Want to see the Chinese New Year Parade? Go here for a map of the route and more information.

In Richmond the International Buddist Society is celebrating the Year of the Ox this weekend (Jan 24-26 with snacks and traditional food, flower arrangements, calligraphy demonstrations, and more!

2. Looking for Valentine Ideas? Try Family Fun!

This magazine was one of my favorites when Jake was small. These valentines are great for kids who have nut/milk allergies, because there's no food involved! If you have a special pre-teen on your list, this iPod valentine is sure to make them smile. For teachers, these roses made from Hershey's kisses are fun and very easy to make!

3. Best Chocolate Ever: Purdy's Chocolates

With Valentine's Day coming, make sure you stock up on your Purdy's chocolate before it's all gone!

4. Lost? Schmap Me!

This is really cool-Schmap integrates maps, guides, and reviews all into one! You can check out destinations and download it to your iPhone or desktop. Of course, I'm a little bit biased because one of my photos is included in Schmap Vancouver, under Granville Island Farmer's Market (the picture of the cherries)

5. You will never do birthday cake again: Try a ice cream sundae bar

Yes, I've already mentioned this in a previous post, and on Twitter, but let me tell you; this is SO MUCH better then cake. Easy, easy. The kids love it. What's not to like?

The supplies?

-vanilla ice cream
-Hershey's chocolate sauce
-butterscotch sauce
-home made apricot sauce
-whipped cream
-smarties (like M&Ms)
-M&M minis
-skittles (they go amazingly hard in the ice cream)
-chocolate mint buttons
-candy canes

....OH, so good!
