It Only Took 18 Hours and I Can See the Place From my Kitchen

Waiting at a ferry terminal for our third ferry of the day, all of us have grown tired.

"See? That's those new Super C ferry." Hubs points to a beautiful new boat sitting at the terminal. Empty. As we passed through the toll booth earlier, the girl had informed us that the uber-boats had broken down.

"Well that's dumb. Those things are brand new. BC ferries did some huge campaign about how wonderful they are and when we finally have a reason to drop over $200 to ride them, they're not working."

All is silent in the car, and then Jake pipes up from the back seat.

"Were they made in China?"

Hubs: "This car is amazing. Look at the headlights!!" He demonstrates. "This is just our normal setting. This, " he hits the switch and the entire road lights up, "is high beams. Amazing."

I nod. It's late. I'm hungry and tired. And he's said this only about 5 times in the last 10 minutes.

Scattered Mom (with feigned enthusiasm, although it is really true. I LOVE the car) : "Yes, I love this car. It's fantastic and I can't wait to drive it. I will take deep breaths of the new car smell every single day and be thankful that we have it."

Jake: "Do you know that breathing in new car smell can actually be harmful to your health? There's all sorts of glue, and paints, and solvents....and..."

Hubs: "That kid really knows how to ruin a moment."
