It's been a busy week in the Cookie Jar, but that hasn't stopped me from hunting down some Fabulicious finds for this Friday......
1. Not Your Average Book on Autism: Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robinson
I had signed this book out, not making the connection between the author and another of my favorite authors, Augusten Burroughs. These guys are brothers! The book was a great insight into what it's like to have Aspergers; very witty and entertaining, without all the technical mumbo-jumbo. Fantastic read!
2. Wanna De-clutter Your House? Pick up It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh for Inspiration
Coincidentally right before we got the sudden "urge to purge" our garage (folks, this never happens. It's a miracle when it does), I had also signed THIS book out. Chock full of actually useful advice and in a completely no preachy tone, it was a great inspiration. I used some of the tips to contain my other weak spot-bills and receipts right by my telephone. We'll see if it works and if I can train Hubs and Jake into following my lead, here. (that's really wishful thinking)
3. Can't Miss Stuff About Town: BC is 150!
From August 1-4th the place to be is Victoria as the province celebrates it's 150th birthday! Check out the link to see what events are happening each day, as there is just WAY too much to list here.
The Filberg Festival
August 1-4, 2008
One of my favorite festivals is happening this weekend in Comox, BC. The Filberg Park suddenly becomes filled with tents of artists selling their wares. This is no cheap-o craft fair here people, the art is fine and high quality. People come from all over the province to this festival. There's also food, music, entertainment, and a petting zoo. Go early to avoid the crowds and find a parking spot!
*When you're done at the Festival, the Black Fin pub is a great place to stop for a cold drink and some yummy food, with a beautiful view of Comox marina.
4. Brendan Fraser Alert: The Mummy 3 opens TODAY!
Jake and I are fans of The Mummy movies, and have really been excited about this one. Click on the link to be taken to the official site and see the trailer, play games, and enter for some prizes. Cool! Now if I could just convince the boy that it would be so much better at the theater (he hates theaters, they're too loud and in your face)-ear plugs?
