So I've posted before about Jake's weird reactions to dairy products, and my quest to find things that don't make him feel like he's just swallowed a "whole bunch of needles".
It's been quite difficult, really. Mostly because Jake seems to defy the norm.
He can eat ice cream and yogurt with no symptoms. However milk and cheese give him an almost instant, severe reaction.
This week we found this:
I wasn't sure what to expect with a "Veggie Cheese", given that all our past attempts have been...um...really gross. I didn't expect much. But when I had Jake close his eyes, open his mouth, and popped in a piece, he thought I'd just bought regular cheese slices. Indeed, it not only tastes like cheese slices, but has the same texture. Even *I* would eat it.
"Finally! A cheese I can EAT!" Jake was ready to do a happy dance. At $3.99 for a small package, it's certainly not cheap, but at least it tastes good. Which is really all we can ask for, isn't it? Galaxy Foods does offer other cheese-like products, I just wish that we could buy them here. If you are interested in the nutritional information, take a look at their website.
In the meantime, he's really happy about a "sort of cheese". Maybe I can figure out how to make him pizza?
