My 11 year old is blogging.

The boy that has never owned a Game Boy, has never been interested in iPods, cell phones, or any sort of game system, suddenly has actually sat at the computer and set up his own blog.

Which to be honest, freaks me out just a little.

For a kid that it has taken years (and lots of screaming at homework time) to get to write, to have him suddenly set up the computer and compose a post just...because sorta weirds me out on one hand, but then makes we want to dance a jig for sheer joy. He's writing. By himself. (cue the angels singing the Hallelujah chorus) For those of you that aren't quite grasping why it's such a big deal in this house, Jake has dyspraxia, is learning disabled, and has a written expression disability. Which in a nutshell, means that writing is just really damn hard for him and he has to use voice to print software (Dragon Naturally Speaking) just to do it.

I never thought I'd see the day that he'd actually want to write without me having to either bribe him with cold hard cash or be standing over him, forcing him to write. Knowing him, he'll stick to being all sciency-like and post lots of cool experiments and ways for kids to give their parents more grey hair.

Of course now this means that I'll have to scramble a little more for blogging time myself, and he wants me to teach him all the tricks of the trade, like HTML, posting pictures, etc. but I suppose it's a fair trade off.

I guess as long as he doesn't blog about the stupid things that I do, we're all good.

Maybe we'll just talk about it....just in case.
