Bullety News in the Jar

* I have amazing readers. Really. All your well wishes had me sitting in front of my computer with a box of kleenex, feeling very loved and supported. Thank you! I have good days and bad, but I'm learning to just relax on the days where I feel really terrible and not do too much on the days that I feel good. It's a learning process, I guess.

*My story "Heart of Gold" didn't quite make the final cut for "Chicken Soup for the Special Needs Soul", but they did say that it would be featured on their website. I'll let you know when I find it.

*Some kid at work blessed me with the nice cold that he's been suffering from all week. I admit, working in high school has it's perks because older kids don't typically wipe their nose with their hands and then want to touch you. However their germs still show no mercy.

*Once I had a nasty cold and our town locked up all the cold meds when a pharmacist wasn't on duty. I literally was so desperate for sinus relief that I reached under the glass partition, wrenched out a bottle of Nyquil, and paid for it without anyone realizing. I'm usually one of those unfailingly honest people but the need of cold relief outweighed respecting the stupid rule that I can't have Nyquil without a pharmacist in the store. I mean really-like I'm going to drink the entire bottle? What am I, a preschooler?

*The other day, Jake made me a herbal foot soak and massaged my feet while he prodded me to eat chocolate. Hmmm. I wonder what he did now?

He hit me up for cash the next day. Sneaky kid.

*We have an IEP Meeting with Jake's school on Monday. For the first time in years, I'm actually looking forward to it. And HEY, I have found a wonderful tip for those of you who have kids who use computers lots at school....get them a flash drive! Now they can go between PC s and MACs, and so if my kid works on something at home, he just saves it to the flash drive and then takes it to school and...bingo! It's all there! I see kids do this at work all the time. I had no idea you could do that. AND they are cheap (here you can pick one up for $20 or less)

*A friend of mind has apple trees and gave us this giant bowl of apples. I'm trying to decide between making apple crisp or apple pie. Which do you like better? Personally, I find apple crisp nicer because I'm not a big pastry fan and I can't seem to make a good pie. We even have some Breyers in the freezer to go with it. Mmmm...yummy. Have recipes you want to share? Leave them in the comments.

*If I have the energy today after grocery shopping, I may do some baking with some new recipes I've been wanting to try. If they meet my standards, I'll post them. By the way, I do have a yummy pumpkin chocolate chip muffin recipe that I plan to post later in the week. Normally I'm not a pumpkin/chocolate fan, but these are really good.

Hope you have a great weekend!
