Last weekend Jake and I made gingerbread cookies. Since the famous 'gingerbread incident' in our home, I don't make gingerbread from scratch anymore. Besides, we never eat enough of them to make it worth it so I buy the ready made Pillsbury gingerbread dough. They make just the right amount, and are very yummy!
As a kid, my favorite story was the gingerbread man. You know the line, "Run, run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man!" I think these two wanted to escape but we bribed them with M&M buttons.
Of course, once they were iced they all posed for a picture. Jake had a great time icing them and getting creative with the various candy we have around here. He added peppermint extract to the icing which I turned my nose up at in the beginning, but I admit it actually tastes pretty darn good.
Little did they know what fate awaited them.....because since then we've eaten every single one. Sugar cookies are next on the list.
What's the Gingerbread Incident, you ask? Stick around and I just might tell you.
